The grape harvest takes place in the autumn because this is when the grapes are fully ripened and ready to be picked. During the summer months, the grapes go through the process of flowering, fruit set, and veraison, where they develop their color and sugar content. By the time autumn arrives, the grapes have reached their peak ripeness and are ready to be harvested for winemaking. Additionally, the cooler temperatures in the autumn help to preserve the grapes' flavors and aromas, making it an ideal time for harvest. **
